Process: News Alert

Client: WebMD_Medscape
Site: DDD
Messages for Campaign:  News_Alerts_2011

A heads up email is sent by someone in Editorial, generally Debbie Flapan. The request will contain:
·         the title of the Alert (which will also be used for the subject line)
·         the URL of the article where the Alert is posted (which may not yet be live)
·         the Specialties the Alert should be sent to

In DreamMail, the most recent usmd version can be duplicated with the current date:
news_Terpenoid_usmd_20110923

There is a Text version and an HTML version.

In the Text version, the URL appears twice; in the HTML version, the URL appears once.

Simply swap out the old URL and alert title with the new ones, track URLs and SAVE.

The proof list I use:
scaratzas@webmd.net,Jlee@webmd.net,DFlapan@medscape.net,eteng@webmd.net,dflapan@webmd.net,ryang@webmd.net,tng@webmd.net,jtlee@webmd.net,tcarpenter@webmd.net,NPhillips@webmd.net,gbrijlall@gmail.com,abentow@webmd.net,mvarallo@webmd.net,lkane@medscape.net,JStrangis@webmd.net,webmdmedsc@cp.delivery.epidm.net

Conversely, and for subsequent proofs (in the case of revisions, etc.), you can simply send an attachment of the revised proof in reply to the original heads up email.

Once the alert has been approved, use the QA Checklist to ensure everything is correct and then send.

If the Alert is sent to a Specialty contained in the Twitter_Facebook_SourceMarkers Excel spreadsheet, it needs to be posted to that Medscape Specialty Facebook page.
